Hot cross bun bread and butter pudding

Hot (cross or uncrossed) bun bread and butter pudding.

5 hot cross buns, sliced into 3
butter for spreading on buns
marmalade for spreading on buns
3 eggs
1/3 cup castor sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup of thick cream
½ tsp ground nutmeg (fresh is best!)

Cut the hot cross buns into 3, spreading one side only with butter and marmalade. Place into baker or (17cm x 28cm approx) ovenproof dish. Combine the eggs, sugar, milk, cream and nutmeg, whisk together. Pour over hot cross buns making sure to cover all the slices of bun. Let it stand for a little, 20 mins, to allow the milk mixture to absorb. Set oven at 180c. Bake pudding for around 40 minutes or until golden and just firm. Yummy served with icecream.
